After leaving England in order to better live out their faith, the Pilgrims came to America to be free to worship how they pleased. Once there, they created the first binding legal document in order to be united under a common goal – the Mayflower Compact.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Compact – the first constitutional document of the new world.
Hear from our First Liberty Fellows, Dr. John Wilsey, Dr. James Patterson, and Dr. Jordan Ballor as they tell why the Compact marks the beginning of religious liberty in North America, and how it served as a source of inspiration for the First Amendment.
